Alberto Pereda

Alberto Pereda is a Mexican photographer, writer, and visual storyteller based in Mexico City. His career began in graphic design, art direction, and visual arts before devoting himself entirely to photography in 2013, when his work was selected for the Visionados program at the PhotoEspaña International Festival.

His work explores the relationship between culture, identity, territory, and travel. Through documentary projects and journeys across Latin America, Asia, and other regions, he combines photography with narrative storytelling.

Since 2015, he has contributed as a writer and photographer to publications including National Geographic Traveler Latin America and Travel + Leisure, producing stories focused on culture, landscapes, and local traditions.

His work has been recognized through international awards and official selections, including being a finalist at the Sony World Photography Awards, shortlisted for the HIPA – Hamdan International Photography Award, selected for the PhotoEspaña International Festival and the Festival Internacional de la Imagen (FINI), and featured in multiple editions of México en una Imagen.

Alongside editorial and commissioned assignments, Alberto is currently developing long-term documentary projects on Mexico’s cultural heritage and living traditions, while also working on a photographic book based on his travels through India and Southeast Asia.

Photograph of the series “Moving Portraits”

Throughout his travels and assignments, the author has gone into different places and contexts around the world to document them with his camera. The main focus of his photographic work is the approach to people and their relationship with their context, to reveal as much as possible what he calls the “armony of reality”: a point where documentation work and aesthetics vision join. 

“Moving Portraits”, his most recent project, is made up of multiple portraits taken in different countries, which he juxtaposes to detonate different interpretations of public.

Workshops

When he is not in assignment, the author gives courses and workshops on different topics of photography. Periodically, he leads trips in Mexico and various destinations of the world, aimed at people interested in entering the professional process of travel photography​.
