Alberto Pereda

Alberto Pereda (Mexico City) is a documentary photographer and travel author whose work explores cultures and territories through both images and storytelling. He has contributed to various publications for National Geographic, as well as to other travel magazines such as Travel + Leisure, documenting destinations including Myanmar, Jerusalem, Cartagena, Bali, Oaxaca, and Sonora. Much of his work emerges from his travels, where photography becomes a means of observation, connection, and narrative.

He began focusing on photography after being selected for the Visionados program at the PhotoEspaña International Festival in 2013. His work has been recognized in international competitions, including the Sony World Photography Awards, as well as in platforms such as the Festival Internacional de la Imagen and México en una Imagen.

Alongside his editorial and documentary work, he develops long-term projects focused on cultural exploration through photography, including a forthcoming book on India and Southeast Asia. He also leads workshops and photographic expeditions for those interested in deepening their engagement with the medium.

Photograph of the series “Moving Portraits”

Throughout his travels and assignments, the author has gone into different places and contexts around the world to document them with his camera. The main focus of his photographic work is the approach to people and their relationship with their context, to reveal as much as possible what he calls the “armony of reality”: a point where documentation work and aesthetics vision join.

“Moving Portraits”, his most recent project, is made up of multiple portraits taken in different countries, which he juxtaposes to detonate different interpretations of public.

Workshops

When he is not in assignment, the author gives courses and workshops on different topics of photography. Periodically, he leads trips in Mexico and various destinations of the world, aimed at people interested in entering the professional process of travel photography.
